The BYU-Idaho Mac Lab will be hosting its first Easter Art Showcase from Monday, March 30, through Wednesday, April 8.

The decision to have the student artwork showcase started when the David O. McKay Library made a recent change to their mission statement.

"The mission statement pretty much says that we as a library are trying to help students become better disciples of Christ," said Kimberly Trost, manager of the Mac Lab. "[We do that] through providing resources and opportunities in both their academic and their spiritual endeavors."

This change gave Trost the idea to include discipleship more in the Mac Lab environment, which led to the showcase.

"[My favorite part] is that the whole point of it is: that it's not just about making cool art," said Kynlee Smith, a sophomore majoring in graphic design who is helping with the showcase. "It's very Christ-centered, but it's also about taking a phrase and turning it into art."

The submissions deadline is Wednesday, March 21, and artwork can be submitted in-person at the Mac Lab.
