Construction in the Hyrum Manwaring Student Center will bring the three main student services—University Store, Print & Copy Services, and Food Services—into one location.
Nov. 5 marked the first day to begin construction in the MC.
The MC Market will move into the convenience store that is adjacent to the University Store. The two businesses will share space during the remodeling of the MC Market.
Once the remodeling is finished, the Convenience Store and the MC Market will combine into one store that will be moved to the original location of the MC Market.
Brittany Ludi-Darnell, a junior studying elementary education, works in the convenience store.
Ludi-Darnell said that she thought it would be more convenient for students who don’t want to go back and forth between all the different stores in the MC.
“Some things are oddly placed in the different departments of the different stores, and each one has its own policy on using Dining Dollars and debit cards,” Ludi-Darnell said.
FedEx will stay in its normal location in the corner of what is now the convenience store and will be joined by the Copy Spot. Underneath the wide stairs next to the University Store, which lead to the Crossroads, there will be a kiosk for Print & Copy Services.
Formally the University Press, Print & Copy Services offer print and consultation services. More business is expected for Print & Copy Services because of its new location.
Brett Sampson, University Services Marketing Coordinator, said many students don’t know about Print & Copy Services because of its location in the less-trafficked Auxiliary Services Building.
“We’re really doing this to let students know that these services are here for them, and they don’t need to drive around Rexburg to fill all their needs,” Sampson said.
