Incumbent Dustin Parkinson narrowly defeated challenger JC Weber in Tuesday's Republican primary for Madison County commissioner, according to unofficial results.

Parkinson received 1,910 votes (44.01%), just enough to defeat Weber, who earned 1,898 votes (43.73%). Delwyn Klinger finished third with 532 votes (12.26%). All precincts in the eastern Idaho county were reported.

The closely contested race for the District 2 seat, a two-year term, was the only county-level contest in the deeply conservative area. Parkinson faces no Democratic opponent in the November general election and is expected to retain the seat.

In the other commissioner race, Brent Mendenhall ran unopposed for District 1, receiving 3,955 votes. Other county offices also had uncontested Republican winners: Kim Hinckley Muir, clerk of the district court, received 3,960 votes; Angie L. Moffat, treasurer, received 3,994; Shawn Boice, assessor, received 3,949; and Sam L. Butikofer, coroner, received 3,942.

Gov. Brad Little captured 69.94% of the vote (3,080), while State Sen. Doug Ricks ran unopposed. In the State House District 34 Seat B race, incumbent Britt Raybould defeated Larry E. Golden, 62.86% to 37.14%.

Voters rejected a $14.995 million bond for a new police station Tuesday after the measure fell short of Idaho’s required two-thirds majority.

The proposal received 61.05% support, with 1,621 yes votes, according to unofficial results. It was the second failed attempt after a larger proposal was rejected in November 2025.

Madison County remains one of Idaho’s most reliably Republican areas. With minimal Democratic opposition in most races, the Republican primary effectively determined many offices. Turnout was in line with typical primary participation in the region.

Election officials said official results will be certified later this month, after canvassing and final verification. Complete results are available at results.voteidaho.gov
