The Rexburg Police Department is searching for a male suspect using the graffiti tag "Domo".

From Sept. 14 to Oct. 20, the male suspect has vandalized over 35 businesses in downtown Rexburg, tagging alleys, garbage cans, roofs, apartment complexes, Dan's Ace Hardware Store, Walgreens and other local businesses.

A police activity summary shows incident reports of vandalism in June, followed by a rapid increase in graffiti tag hits from July through October.

Dan Moldenhauer, owner of Dan's Ace Hardware Store, is one of the victims affected by the vandalism. On Oct. 14, Moldenhauer posted a video on Dan's Ace Hardware Facebook page, seeking community help in catching the vandalizer.

Members of the community have commented on the post, showing their support for Rexburg businesses and offering suggestions to help catch the suspect.

"[I] saw that tag on the canal near Nitro this morning, maybe businesses in that area could have something on security cameras that could help catch the person," said Alexandria Weirich, a Rexburg resident.

"They've hit a few apt complex sites as well. Let's hope they catch them soon!" said Cyndi Braun, BYU-Idaho Alumna.

"It's super frustrating! I've been trying to clean up the skatepark for months," said Greg West, a professional skateboarder. "There is a new camera there, so all that needs to happen is have someone go over the footage for September and match up the "Domo" tags ... I'm sorry this happened, and I feel your frustration."

Others from the post show appreciation towards the vandal and his art.

"Leave him alone, that's art," said Jamison DeBolt, a resident of Idaho Falls.

"Some good art ... I will say," said Tate Thompson, a resident of Teton.

"Any information — no matter how small — could make a big difference. We love this community and know that together, we can help keep it safe and welcoming for everyone," said Moldenhauer.

The police department is seeking help from the community to identify the suspect. Police recommend contacting Officer Hansen or Detective Wheeler of the Rexburg Police Department at (208)-359-3000.
