The Rexburg Police Department is asking the public to help identify a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident over the weekend.

A silver car was struck while parked on 3rd West near Brigham’s Mill Apartments, between 4th South and 5th South, sometime between 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, and noon Sunday, Sept. 21. Investigators believe the crash may have happened during a U-turn or while a driver was backing up.

In a Facebook post, the department said, “Based on the damage, it’s possible the driver was unaware they had clipped a parked vehicle. If you recently noticed a broken taillight after driving in this area, please know that officers have the matching piece and would like to help facilitate an exchange of information between you and the vehicle owner.”

Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and checking nearby vehicles for signs of a collision.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information that could assist investigators is encouraged to contact Madison Dispatch at (208) 372-5001 and reference case #202503320.
