On Wednesday, BYUI students can watch President Dallin H. Oaks discuss faith, religious liberty and the U.S. Constitution during a campus broadcast in The John Taylor building. The broadcast is scheduled for 3-4 p.m. in the Taylor Chapel, room 190, according to the campus events listing.

President Oaks will deliver a keynote address at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. The event, titled "Faith, Freedom and the Common Good," will focus on the relationship between religious faith and American democracy, according to an announcement from the Church Newsroom on Sept. 09.

The Washington National Cathedral event will begin at 6 p.m. EDT and will be available through an online livestream. The event is being presented by Washington National Cathedral in partnership with the Wheatley Institute at Brigham Young University, according to Church Newsroom.

The address will take place one day before Constitution Day, which is held on Sept. 17.

President Oaks has previously addressed the U.S. Constitution and religious freedom in several Church speeches and addresses. In his April 2021 General Conference address, "Defending Our Divinely inspired Constitution," he discussed constitutional principles, religious freedom and the responsibilities of citizens. He also spoke about religious freedom at Chapman University School of Law in 2011 and at a 2014 religious freedom symposium.

Before being called as an Apostle in 1984, President Oaks served as a justice on the Utah Supreme Court and as a professor of law at the University of Chicago, shared the Church newsroom in their most recent press release.
