Reed’s Dairy opening new processing facility Friday

Reed’s Dairy in Idaho Falls just completed a new production facility after a fire destroyed its previous facility. That fire, which occurred in January of 2024, caused the dairy to lose its production capacity. This forced them to outsource their work. Now, they are reopening their facility with a ribbon-cutting on Friday.

“Our margins have been pretty small because we've had a dairy over in Moses Lake, Washington, bottle our milk for us,” said Alan Reed, the president of Reed's Dairy. “We've been getting ice cream mix from as far away as Chicago and down in Utah, and then we've been freezing that here in a spot we set up, and we've been having cheese made other places.”

Reed says the U.S. Department of Agriculture has inspected the equipment and cleared for use. This will enable Reed's Dairy to process their milk, cheese, ice cream, eggnog and more at their Idaho Falls plant.

"With the new facility, Reed’s Dairy will also resume bottling some of its milk products in glass bottles, a feature
many customers have eagerly awaited," according to a Reed's Dairy press statement.

The location for the event is Reed's Dairy's main location in Idaho Falls at 2660 West Broadway.

The event is on Friday, Nov. 14 , at 2 p.m. To find out more about the event, click here or check out the company’s Facebook page.
