Citizens around the county impacted by cancer gather every year for Relay for Life to sport research and affected local residents.
“The Relay for Life is to celebrate cancer survivors’ that have survived cancer. Some of us are in active treatment, but basically it’s a survival of life,” said Burt.
The evening of the walkathon sold food, games, and momentous for donations towards the American Cancer Society.
“We’re here 24 hours a day all night long and were fundraising trying to raise money for Cancer Research,” said Burt.
The night officially kicked-off with in-treatment patients and survivors walked around the track for their first lap.
Many tents on the field sported the people and lost loved ones around them.
“Its about hope its about survival and you know we really wanted to get out and sport the community,” said Ziel.
“I know families who’ve gone through it and their family member is still a survivor but they are, but they survive in their heart and I just wanted to come and sport,” said Peterson.
The sun is setting here at Relay for Life, a representation of the many lives lost due to cancer, but remember these three simple steps: Celebrate, Remember, and Fight Back.
