Rexburg prepares to face its first freeze of fall, as lows near 29 degrees Fahrenheit are expected the night of Oct. 6 and the morning of Oct. 7.

A statement from the Rexburg Police Department’s Facebook page says it’s “jacket season” and urges residents to prepare for freezing temperatures.

The department also encourages residents to prepare for frigid weather by checking their tires to ensure they have enough traction for slick roads, defrosting windows and windshields before driving and packing a bag of emergency essentials such as blankets, clothes, spare batteries and snacks.

“A little prep now will keep your problems from snowballing when the weather is worse,” the post says.
