The city of Rigby is reexamining its beer and liquor laws to allow businesses greater selling flexibility of beer and alcohol.
Mayor of Rigby, Jason Richardson, said a local bar owner made the proposition to the Rigby city council to change the ordinance.
According to Idaho Code 23-927, the current law states no liquor shall be sold, offered for sale or given away on any licensed premises on Sunday, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving or Christmas from 1 a.m. until 10 a.m. the following day.
“Depending on one’s point of view, a cultural shift from having a day of sobriety each week, to having all days equal, in terms of access to alcohol, could be seen as positive or negative,” Richardson said.
