The Assigned to Labor event, hosted by the Holy Rebellion podcast, will be held at the Romance Theater in Rexburg on Sept. 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will include a conference and workshop.

The conference will feature speakers including Jasmin Rappleye, Gwyneth White, Dalton Williams and other creators. The workshop will give attendees the opportunity to make their first or next piece of social media content.

According to Travis Lish, co-host of the Holy Rebellion podcast and co-host of the event, Project Assigned to Labor began after Lish and his co-host, Christian Williams, noticed the amount of negative content about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints online.

“It was a few years ago that Christian and I realized that that was going to be the environment that our children grew up in, that if they saw videos on their phones, it would be negative,” Lish said.

Kenna Lewis, a senior studying marriage and family, plans to attend after watching creators such as Rappleye and White. Lewis said seeing how they shared their beliefs changed her view of what it could look like.

“I’m really excited ... not only getting the courage to do it, but to know how to go about it and the importance behind it,” Lewis said.

Doors to the event will open at 8:30 a.m. at the Romance Theater. Admission is free.
