Tuesday's Speed Dating offers students the chance to make connections and find dates before Friday’s Date Night.
Headed by Campus Life’s Anna Glenn, a fifth-semester Communications major, and Shurika Sinclair, a first-semester Biomedical major, the dating event allows students to get to know each other through multiple 2-minute conversations.
Conversation questions like "If you were a superhero, who would you be and why?" are collected by Glenn and Sinclair in hopes of giving participants an "easy in" for their mini dates.

"It's to inspire men to actually ask the women on an actual date," Sinclair said. "So hopefully they're thinking, 'Oh, this is a good question and an opportunity for me to just go for it."
Glenn added that speed dating can be beneficial for more than finding a romantic partner.
“Dating isn't just for anything romantic; it's good for you, it's good for you to learn how to talk to people and socialize," Glenn said. "And there's a group of people here who aren't very good at that, and need help and practice with that. So I encourage all of our friends to come and meet new people and learn how to talk to each other."
The ratio of men to women at last week's speed dating event was uneven, leaving numerous men waiting in line for the chance to date.

Glenn said she believed the number of women in last week's event rose due to the publicity made on social media, and hopes the future events will continue this trend.
"We work with the promotions office to make Instagram reels, and we did that and posted one earlier this week," Glenn said. "I think that definitely helped a lot because there are way more girls than there were last time."
Glenn and Sinclair said there are plans for speed dating events throughout the rest of the semester, and the upcoming dates can be found on BYUI's event calendar and on Campus Life's Instagram.
