Each semester, BYUI hosts a spirit week as a way to bring students together and give them an opportunity to meet new people and revitalize their school spirit.
"These week long events are an opportunity for students to all come together and actually be a school," said Sophia Miller, the Spirit Events Student Director and also a junior majoring in public health. "It's really special that we're able to do that."
Miller has a team of seven students and two full-time staff that help plan these major events.
"Each person has one or two events that they work on and we collaborate on them," Miller said. "We come up with ideas and present what we think the students would want to be a part of."
Most of the times, the events that are held during spirit week are ones that have been used in the past.

"A lot of our events are one that, if they're working, they're working great," Miller said. "[And] if the events are working, students love it. We're just trying to continue to improve on that."
Each day during SpringFest will bring new activities for students to participate in, including a Temple to Temple Run to kickoff the event and a Mud Fest and Rugby games to conclude the event.
The community is invited to participate in the Mud Fest, which will include mud activities and inflatables, as a part of Flood50, a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Teton Dam Collapse.
The hope of SpringFest, as well as all spirit weeks the university hosts, is to provide a space everyone can come together and have a good time.
"Our hope in these activities is that we're able to create an environment where people are able to make friends [and] meet new people," Miller said. "The end goal is obviously to bring the school together and preserve the spirit of Ricks."
