On June 3, as part of BYU-Idaho's weeklong SpringFest celebration, a rodeo will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Madison County Fairgrounds.
Pre-sale tickets are $12 and $15 at the door. Tickets can be purchased on the SpringFest website.
The doors will open at 4:30 p.m., allowing people time to visit the food trucks and other pre-rodeo attractions. After the rodeo, country dancing will be available to attendees.
BYUI students can sign up for three different events: Barrel racing, team roping, steer riding and hobby horsing.
“I think the biggest thing we are excited for is we’re doing hobby horsing this time,” Kylie Jones, a business management major and co-organizer for this year’s rodeo, said.

The other co-organizer of the rodeo, Estapan Cabrera, a business management major, explained that when researching a new event to bring to the rodeo, he sought something unique and different from typical rodeos.
Hobbyhorsing is a unique Finnish sport that mimics the world of equestrian competition, without the actual horses. Participants use handmade stick horses to compete in simulations of traditional equestrian events such as dressage, show jumping and steeplechase.
