The university band and symphony band at BYU-Idaho are combining for a fall concert on Tuesday, Oct. 21, where students can expect to hear a collection of spooky movie themes and classical band pieces.
"This isn't necessarily a Halloween concert exactly, but the university band is going to do some fun music that is seasonal," said Dave Faires, BYUI symphony band director.

Faires began working in the music department at BYUI seven years ago. He directs the symphony band, made up of mostly music majors who dedicate many hours to practicing music. The university band, directed by Adam Baliff, has a wider assortment of students from a variety of majors.
Both bands will perform at the "October Suites" concert on the 21st. The audience will hear the university band play crowd favorites, including a selection of themes by Danny Elfman.
Faires is excited for students to come and be a part of this event.
"It's just kind of a fun community to come check in on, even if you're not able to perform," Faires said.

The show will be on Tuesday, October 21st, at 7:30 p.m. in the Barrus Concert Hall. Tickets are on sale now.
