Bicyclists in Rexburg may be interested in a mobile app that allows users to share bike routes with each other.
“MapMyRide” allows users to track their bike rides. The app uses a GPS signal to track the time, distance, speed and elevation of a bike ride. It also maps out a bike ride on a current map of the area.Using the MapMyRide website or the app, users can save a biking route and load it to an online directory of routes near Rexburg.
The MapMyRide website currently has more than 10 pages worth of bike rides in the Rexburg area ranging from 2 miles to 100 miles. The most poular routes are routes that loop through campus, such as the Romney loop and the Library loop. There is also a popular 20-mile ride that starts in Rexburg and travels south toward Barney Dairy and then loops back around to Rexburg.
Bicyclists can download the MapMyRide mobile app at the Apple app store or the Google Play app store, and users without smart phones can still use resources on the website.
