The US National Weather Service issued a flood watch Tuesday, effective through Wednesday.
According to the US National Weather Service Pocatello Idaho's Facebook post, "Excessive rainfall could lead to runoff and isolated flooding."
Steep terrain, cleared fields and areas near burn scars are particularly vulnerable to flooding risk.
"While we hope this remains only a precaution, we encourage residents to take simple steps now to help protect your home and property," said the Rexburg Police Department in a post. "A little preparation today can prevent bigger problems tomorrow."
