I went to find out the facts about the blue emergency poles that are spread across campus. I was interested to find out how they help students and how often students use these towers. Interestingly enough, not many students use these poles. In fact, Garth Gunderson; head of Security and Safety at BYU-Idaho says that students rarely use the towers. It is pressed once about every year.
In addition, I asked the stereotypical question about the emergency poles and why there is a need for them since BYU-Idaho is an LDS school. Wouldn’t it be safer? I learned that it is false.
