RIGBY — A fire at the north Rigby electrical substation has left thousands without power Wednesday night.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Central Fire District are currently on the scene. It’s unclear what caused the fire.

Residents in Rigby, Rexburg, Lewisville, St. Anthony and Sugar City are without electricity. Rocky Mountain Power is estimating power will restored around 2 a.m.

Fall River Electric customers are also reporting outages.

One woman living near the substation told EastIdahoNews.com she heard what she thought was an explosion at the substation and looked out the window to see a fire at the facility.
